Chickens, eggs, and a trip to D.C.

This post has a little of everything...Randomness at its best!

We have added some new members to our family as of the past month or so.  Andy decided that he wanted to become a chicken farmer!  We have 12 laying hens in the barn behind our house.  Of course, I had to name them!  Their names are Henny Penny, Gladys, Pearl, Lucy, Gertrude (Gertie), The Golden Girls (Blanche, Sophia, Rose, and Dorthea) and Laverne and Shirley, and Snowflake.  We are averaging about 8-10 eggs a day already!  It's so nice to always have a fresh supply.  Addie loves going to the chicken coop in her "barn boots" to get eggs.

I just returned from taking my 5th graders to Washington, D.C. for our field trip.  It was so much fun (minus the exhaustion of being on the move from 6:00 am to 10:00 pm for three days straight)!  Thanks to my wonderful aunt and uncle who sent money to help some students pay for their trip!  It was so wonderful to take students who have never been away from home or even stayed in a hotel.  They were just amazed and that made the trip totally worthwhile!
